About Me

The person behind
the work

My name is Elyas Markides. I am a Business and Marketing student at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University. I am building a professional portfolio that combines academic work, agency-style project experience, and a background that has taught me discipline, resilience, and the ability to perform under pressure.

Before university, I served for 14 months in the Cyprus National Guard — an experience that gave me a deep understanding of structure, accountability, and leadership in high-stakes environments. Alongside my military service, I have spent eight years representing Cyprus in alpine skiing, including the Winter Youth Olympics. I also hold both an SSI scuba diving instructor licence and a skydiving licence.

At Nottingham Business School, I have channelled that same approach into marketing. As part of the Marketing Agency module, I worked as an agency executive on live briefs for the Nottingham City Safeguarding Adults Board and British Nordic Walking — developing campaign strategies, conducting audience research, and presenting to professional stakeholders.

My goal is to build a career in digital marketing and content strategy, working in an agency or SME environment where I can apply both creative and analytical thinking.

My Role

The Brief

Analyse BNW's market position against competitor WALX and develop recommendations for marketing their new funded groups for people living with Parkinson's.

My Role

I led the customer journey mapping, presenting a 7-stage journey from Awareness to Advocacy. I researched the target audience, identified barriers and motivators, and developed the voice-over script for the group presentation.
